23-year-old gets stuck on mountain following Google ‘shortcut,’ Utah rescuers say
A 23-year-old man called 911 for help after becoming stranded on a Utah mountain following a Google “shortcut,” rescuers reported.
The man’s Toyota Tercel became stuck on Strawberry Peak at 12:39 a.m. Thursday, July 4, Wasatch County Search & Rescue said in a July 6 news release.
Photos with the release on Facebook appear to show the vehicle stuck on a dirt road.
Google recommended the route as a shortcut between Springville and Vernal, rescuers said.
The man was not hurt but needed help getting off the mountain in the three-hour rescue, officials said.
Strawberry Peak is about a 105-mile drive southeast from Salt Lake City.
