Floating house listed for $1.8M in Portland has a surprise — a floating guest house
A gorgeous non-traditional property has graced the market in Portland, Oregon, for $1.8 million. Well, at least non-traditional to those of us living on land.
“The market is super strong,” Karla Divine of Divine NW Realty told OregonLive. “It is the first time we have seen multiple offers in the floating home market on a regular basis.”
Floating homes appear to be all the rage in the Pacific Northwest and are a wonderful alternative if you’re a lover of anything and everything water related. This custom Marc Even Construction-designed floating house even comes with an additional floating home — known as a tender house — for guests.
The estate sits on a concrete float and the main home comes with features that are easy on the eyes, including heated cement floors, an open floor plan with 12-foot ceilings, a primary bedroom that includes a private study, separate sleeping area and a sitting room with a gas fireplace, the listing on Realtor.com says.
There’s also a side garden, and a front deck with a garden.
The custom tender house has a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and a loft and deck.
According to Oregon Live, most floating homes in the Portland area sell for under $500,000 but this year has been different.
“Nine floating homes have sold this year for between $600,000 and $700,000 and 11 have sold for over the $700,000 price point and we still have more than two months remaining in the year,” Graham Marden of Premiere Property Group LLC told Oregon Live. “This shatters any previous year by a wide margin.”
