Photos show Bible unscathed after car blaze melts dashboard, Texas fire officials say
Fire officials in Texas say a Bible survived a car blaze over the weekend.
The Deer Park Fire Department responded to a call about a car fire around noon Sunday, the department wrote in a Facebook post.
Deer Park is roughly 20 miles east of Houston.
Fire officials arrived to find the car’s dashboard melted and “completely burned up and dissolved to ash” along with the engine compartment and passenger compartment, the post said.
When firefighters found a Bible sitting on the destroyed dash they noticed something odd — the Bible was almost entirely unscathed.
Photos of the Bible show some burn marks on the back cover and officials say some water splashed on the pages, but otherwise, it was “untouched by the fire,” the post said.
The front of the Bible appears to be in pristine condition.
“Happy Sunday!” officials wrote.
