Summer is keeping its grip on DFW in its last full week.

With fall starting next Wednesday, temperatures are expected to reach the low 90s through Friday. The high on Monday was exactly 90.

That’s not too unusual: Normal yearly highs for the last week of summer are between 87 and 89, according to National Weather Service data.

There’s a slight chance of a minor cold front moving into the area on Friday, which would cool things off a bit and bring a chance of rain, but that’s not likely.

[The front] “will probably stall just north of Dallas-Fort Worth,” said meteorologist Ted Ryan of the weather service office in Fort Worth. “That would be Friday night and during the day Saturday. Right now, there’s no indication that it will move through.”

The rest of the week offers “no real surprises,” Ryan said.

“It was kind of looking like we were going to have this nice weekend, and then move back up, and that’s what’s happened.”

Temperatures are projected to be above normal through next week, according to the weather service’s eight- to 14-day outlook. Average yearly highs are between 83 and 86 degrees starting next Monday through the end of the month.

Above-normal precipitation is expected for most of Texas during the fall, according to the Climate Prediction Center’s three-month outlook. Dallas/Fort Worth Airport has had 38.96 inches of rain this year — 13.9 inches above normal.
