Large rodents, roaches found at these Fort Worth restaurants in health inspection

Two Fort Worth restaurants were temporarily closed following recent health inspections due to large rodents at one location and plumbing issues at another, according to the city’s inspection reports.

Fort Worth uses a demerit system, with zero being a perfect score. Restaurants that receive more than 30 demerits are required to immediately fix the most critical violations and start corrective procedures on all the other violations within 48 hours.

The reports compiled by the Star-Telegram contain data on health violations from June 21-27 and 126 inspections.

Two restaurants were closed for serious health violations:

  • Glt 2.0 at 2350 S. Riverside Drive scored 25 and was temporarily closed. Health inspectors suspended the food permit after observing large live rodents in the kitchen and bar area and damaged plumbing. The restaurant reopened after a follow-up inspection and scored 17.
  • Taco Master at 4800 S. Hulen St., Suite 2120 scored 16 and was temporarily closed after health inspectors noted that the only hand sink was not draining properly, causing water to overflow. Health inspectors also observed a roach in the back storage area at the eatery.

Two other restaurants had high demerit scores:

  • The Flying Fish at 2913 Montgomery St. Score: 29. The restaurant scored 6 after a follow-up inspection.
  • Lupe Tortilla Mexican Restaurant at 9409 North Freeway. Score: 12.

Five restaurants had problems with roaches:

  • Mexican Inn Cafe at 2700 E. Lancaster Ave. Health inspectors observed a dead roach near an ice machine. Score: 28.
  • The Red Barn at 2632 E. Lancaster Ave. Inspectors observed a dead roach in the hand sink. Score: 17.
  • Rio Bravo Mexican Seafood & Bar at 4200 South Freeway, Suite 1980. Inspectors observed a roach in the back storage area. Score: 11.
  • La Antojeria Jalisco at 4200 South Freeway, Suite 1334. Health inspectors observed roaches in the back storage area. Score: 7.
  • Jack In The Box at 3459 Altamesa Blvd. Inspectors found a live roach by the mop sink area near the office. Score 3.
