Fort Worth police are asking for the public’s help locating a man who went missing more than 40 years ago.

Richard Powell left his house to visit a friend on March 22, 1984, and never arrived, police said in a social media post. The 18-year-old’s car was found abandoned in an Irving parking lot a month later.

“Our department is looking for any new tips or leads, that may lead to the whereabouts of Richard W. Powell,” the post reads.

Powell was about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighed around 150 pounds at the time of his disappearance. He had blond hair and blue eyes, according to police, and the pinkie fingers of both his hands were curved inward. He wore an orthodontic retainer on his bottom teeth.

Anyone with information about Powell’s disappearance is asked to contact the Missing Persons Unit at 817-392-4442 or missingpersons@fortworthpd.com. Detectives would also like to get in touch with Powell’s family members, according to the post.
