Roaches seen at multiple Fort Worth restaurants during recent health inspections

Roaches were found at several Tarrant Fort Worth restaurants and three others had high demerit scores in the latest round of health inspections, according to the data compiled by the Star-Telegram.

Fort Worth uses a demerit system, with zero being a perfect score. Restaurants that receive more than 30 demerits are required to fix the worst violations immediately and clean up the rest within 48 hours. Here are the results for 224 inspections conducted between March 22 and April 11

3 restaurants scored high demerits

  • Boo Rays Of New Orleans at 5728 Boat Club Road scored 39 demerits after health inspectors observed various health hazards, including cross contamination, food stored at unsafe temperature, dirty utensils, employees not washing there and lack of food manager certificates.
  • Paul’s Donuts Subs & Gyros at 1324 Hemphill St. received a high score of 40 during an inspection on March 26. The eatery scored 11 after three follow-up inspections.
  • Donna’s Donuts at 5801 Golden Triangle Blvd., Suite 113 scored 19 demerits.

Roaches were observed at:

  • Popeye’s at 3100 E Berry St., health inspectors observed multiple live roaches at the electrical panel. The fast food chain scored 14.
  • Flips Patio Grill at 6613 Fossil Bluff Dr., health inspectors observed dead roaches on the electrical room. The restaurant scared 13.
  • Cs Cajun Seafood House at 9116 Camp Bowie West Blvd. Suite 100. One small live roach was found in the restaurant. Score 12.
  • Popeyes at 1760 Eastchase Parkway. Health inspectors found one live roach in the electrical panel below the front worktop cooler. Score: 9.
  • La Vaquerita at 4063 E Lancaster Avenue, one dead cockroach was seen by the backdoor. Score 8.
  • Bombay Grill & Bar at 4625 Donnelly Ave., Suite 109, live roach was seen at the restaurant. Score 7.
  • Rio Mambo, 6125 SW Loop 820, Suite 110, Fort Worth, dead roach stuck in the prep table. Score 7.
