Man critically injured in crash with tow truck on U.S. 287 in Fort Worth: police

A crash involving a tow truck on U.S. 287 in northwest Fort Worth shut down the highway for several hours Friday morning and left a man in critical condition, police said.

Officers responded to a major accident in the northbound lanes of U.S. 287 near Blue Mound Road shortly after 2 a.m., police said. They found a man who’d been ejected from a van during a collision with a tow truck.

The crash victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. The tow truck’s driver was uninjured, police said.

The northbound lanes of U.S. 287 were closed to traffic for several hours while officials cleared the accident scene. The highway reopened about 6:30 a.m.
