Woman fatally struck by car on East Loop 820 in Fort Worth, police say

A 35-year-old woman was struck and killed by a vehicle late Wednesday night in east Fort Worth, police said.

Officers were called to the southbound lanes of East Loop 820 near Meadowbrook Drive shortly before 11:30 p.m. after a 911 caller reported a car had hit a pedestrian. The woman died at the scene, according to police.

Traffic detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman as Courtney Glyn Matthews and said she died from multiple blunt force injuries, according to the agency’s website.

The southbound lanes of East Loop 820 at Meadowbrook Drive were closed for a time due to the crash.
