A pedestrian was struck and critically injured by a train Saturday morning in Fort Worth, officials said.

Officers were called to the intersection of McCart and West Boyce avenues after a northbound BNSF train hit a man who was by the tracks. The left side of the man’s body was injured, but he was conscious when officers found him, according to police.

The injured man was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in critical condition, according to a Fort Worth Fire Department spokesperson.

BNSF Railway has been notified because the accident occurred in its jurisdiction, police said. Further details about the accident were not immediately available.
