1 killed in crash with suspected drunk driver on I-30 in Grand Prairie: police
One person was killed on Interstate 30 in Grand Prairie early Friday in a hit-and-run crash involving a suspected drunk driver, police said.
A Chrysler traveling west on I-30 shortly before 2 a.m. was hit from behind by a Ford F-150 at MacArthur Boulevard. The Ford’s driver kept going, according to police. After his truck quit working, he got out and ran away on foot.
The Chrysler’s driver died at the scene, according to police.
Officers found and arrested the Ford’s driver. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash and was taken to a local hospital.
The suspect, whose name has not been released, faces charges of collision involving death and intoxication manslaughter, police said. The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office will publicly identify the person who died.
Police are continuing to investigate the fatal collision. The westbound lanes of I-30 were closed at Cockrell Hill Road for several hours following the crash.
