Person fatally struck by train in east Fort Worth, police say

A person was fatally struck by a train Tuesday morning in east Fort Worth, officials said.

Police responded to the area of East Lancaster Avenue and Sandy Lane at about 7:20 a.m. after someone reported a train had hit a person lying on the tracks, according to the 911 call sheet.

Police said they are investigating the incident. The pedestrian died at the scene. Further information wasn’t immediately available.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the person and officially determine their cause and manner of death.
