The NTTA is increasing toll rates soon. Here’s by how much
Driving between North Texas suburbs will cost drivers a little extra starting this summer.
The North Texas Tollway Authority announced Tuesday that it will increase toll rates for TollTag users by one cent, going from 21 cents to 22 cents per mile. The new rate will take effect on July 1 and crews will begin updating road signs in the coming weeks.
NTTA officials say the increase will help repay $8.8 billion in toll bonds used to construct the organization’s roads.
The increase will also help fund future improvements included in the NTTA’s five-year capital plan, including improving and extending Dallas North Tollway and Chisholm Trail Parkway.
“Each year, we serve more than 14 million customers through safe, well-maintained roads, which bring significant economic growth and development to our region,” NTTA board chairman Scott Levine said in a press release. “As always, the best option for every customer is to maintain a TollTag account to receive the lowest rate with the most convenience on toll roads.”
NTTA increasing toll rate
A similar one cent increase came from the NTTA in 2023, raising the per mile rate from 20 to 21 cents.
TollTags are free and have no monthly fee. All account balances go towards tolls and do not expire, according to the NTTA.
NTTA says it offers drivers the lowest rates on tolls and convenient parking payments at both Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and Dallas Love Field. There’s also a customer rewards program for driving on NTTA roads.
Those without a TollTag driving on NTTA roads will pay double the rate in ZipCash (pay-by-mail), according to the organization.
