Driver killed after slamming into pillar near I-35W, Fort Worth police say

One person was killed Thursday, May 1, after their vehicle crashed into a pillar near Interstate 35W, Fort Worth police said.

More than 20 units were dispatched to the area of E. Lancaster Avenue and I-35W after the accident was reported shortly before 7 a.m.

A 911 caller said a small red car traveling at a high rate of speed had slammed into a wall under the bridge at E. Lancaster, according to the police call sheet.

The driver died at the scene, officials said. The Traffic Investigations Unit has been notified, and the Tarrant County Medical Examiner will identify the person who died.
