Large house in Fort Worth’s Crestline neighborhood partially collapses during fire
Fort Worth firefighters battled a fire at a large house in the affluent Crestline neighborhood, near the River Crest Country Club, early Wednesday.
The Fire Department was called about 1 a.m. to the two-story, approximately 6,000-square-foot home in the 4600 block of Crestline Road, in west Fort Worth.
Firefighters saw heavy flames and smoke coming from the second floor, and the house partially collapsed.
No one was home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported, officials said.
“The home was incredibly large and the fire had already spread into the attic,” the Fire Department said in a social media post. “Thankfully, no one was found inside the structure but due to the size of the house and the large amount of fire that was present, the Incident Commander made the call for a second alarm. This would bring more resources and manpower to the scene.”
Almost 45 firefighters responded and they brought the fire under control in just under 40 minutes, the department said.
“Crews remained there well into the morning to ensure that the fire was out and there were no hot spots,” the department said. “The structural integrity of the home was compromised during the blaze as there was a partial collapse of the garage area where the main body of the fire had been.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
