A 17-year-old North Texas boy who was severely burned on more than 60% of his body when he ran into a Saginaw power station died on Sunday in the hospital, his family said.

Jaiden Glover was shocked and fell about 30 feet onto the pavement on Jan. 25. He was flown to Parkland Hospital in Dallas in critical condition with third-degree burns.

Friends started a GoFundMe page for donations to help the family with medical expenses, and a Facebook page where the community could get updates and share words of support. Early Sunday morning, Feb. 9, the pages were updated with information that Jaiden’s heart gave out and he coded. Funeral arrangements are pending.

Jaiden’s mother, Eiron Glover, told the Star-Telegram that the teen ran into the power substation while experiencing a mental health crisis. The family tried for over a year to help her son with mental health issues, but when they took him to see doctors he would quickly be released with a vague diagnosis and various medications, she said.

On Jan. 25, the parents called Saginaw police when Jaiden had an episode. The teen ran away, and police officers “were trying to apprehend him for his safety” when he jumped over a fence and went into the electric power terminal, she said.

At Parkland, Jaiden underwent several surgeries, blood transfusions and skin grafts, and he developed pneumonia, his family said.
