Hoping to avoid holiday traffic at DFW Airport? Here’s another option that only costs $2

Many holiday travelers going in and out of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport faced heavy traffic delays on Sunday, Dec. 1.

The airport began warning travelers of heavy traffic around 4 p.m. Sunday and that continued for much of the evening. By 8 p.m., the airport posted on social media that there was continued “extremely heavy vehicle traffic.”

Around 9:45 p.m., the airport posted one last message about traffic returning to normal.

While DFW Airport has extensive parking options, there is another way for travelers to get to and from the terminals. Here’s what to know:

Taking the TEXRail to DFW Airport

Trinity Metro’s TEXRail takes travelers directly to DFW Airport for only $2. Here’s what to do:

  • Purchase a $2 local single-ride ticket from the GoPass app.
  • Hop on the TEXRail at your nearest station.
  • Ride the TEXRail to the DFW Airport Terminal B Station.
  • For connections to terminals A, C, D and E, travelers can ride the airport shuttle before going through security. Or, go through security at terminal B and ride the airport’s Skylink to any other terminal.

Five of TEXRail’s stations have designated long-term parking for $5 a day. Here’s each station available for long-term parking:

  • Fort Worth T&P Station
  • Fort Worth North Side Station
  • Fort Worth Mercantile Center Station
  • North Richland Hills/Iron Horse Station
  • North Richland Hills/Smithfield Station

On average, each of the five stations have 20 designated long-term parking spots, according to Trinity Metro. To purchase long-term parking, visit the Ace Parking app.
