A Fort Worth family is in mourning after their 26-year-old husband and father of two was fatally shot in his driveway last Sunday night during an argument with a neighbor that his wife believes started over loud music.

Oscar Alberto “Beto” Lopez was bringing home food from Wingstop when the shooting occurred, according to a GoFundMe. His family called his death an “irreparable loss.”

“Beto will always be remembered for his charisma, his contagious smiles and his cheerful personality,” GoFundMe organizer Dunia Santos wrote in Spanish. “He was someone who gave everything for his family.”

Officers responded to Lopez’s south Fort Worth home in the 1200 block of East Davis Avenue around 10:15 p.m. Nov. 24. They found the 26-year-old lying dead in the driveway with gunshot wounds, according to police.

Homicide detectives believe Lopez and the suspect, 26-year-old Caspian Swinney, were involved in an argument and a physical fight. The suspect fired a handgun, shooting the victim multiple times, police said.

Investigators said they found the suspect and a witness leaving a nearby residence. They detained Swinney, but he had a medical emergency during the investigation and was taken to a local hospital for an evaluation.

Swinney was arrested Monday morning and faces a murder charge, jail records state. As of Friday, he was being held in the Tarrant County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

Lopez’s wife, Amanda Fernicola, said in a public Facebook post that she believes their next-door neighbor shot Lopez because he was “frustrated with his loud music.” According to Fernicola, Lopez was shot only about a minute after getting out of his truck. He never had the chance to turn the music down, she said.

All money raised through the GoFundMe will help cover Lopez’s funeral expenses and support his family. He leaves behind a wife and two small sons, a 5-year-old and a 3-month-old. A second GoFundMe has also been organized for the family.
