18-year-old killed, 2 injured when vehicle collides with tree, Fort Worth police say
An 18-year-old who recently graduated from high school was killed and two other people were injured when a vehicle collided with a tree in Fort Worth early Sunday morning, police said.
Northwest division officers responded to the crash scene in the 3800 block of Decatur Avenue at about 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 17, according to a police statement.
Anuar Rodriguez Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the accident scene, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. Two other people were transported to an area hospital with serious injuries, police said.
A fundraiser has been organized to help Rodriguez Gonzalez’s family with funeral expenses. He graduated earlier this year from Diamond Hill-Jarvis High School, where he played on the soccer team.
“Words cannot express how devastated everyone is at this time,” a GoFundMe page reads. “We want to give Anuar the memorial he deserves, to honor his memory and say our last goodbyes.”
A candlelight vigil for the former student is planned for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, on the front steps of Diamond Hill-Jarvis, according to a social media post.
The Fort Worth Police Department’s Traffic Investigations Unit will investigate to determine the cause of the crash, officials said.
Initial reports stated that the vehicle collided with a house. Police later clarified that the vehicle hit a tree at the location.
