‘Cobra Kai’ stars Ralph Macchio and William Zabka stop by North Texas for fan screening
“Cobra Kai” stars Ralph Macchio and William Zabka stopped by North Texas this week to give fans a preview of their crane-kicking new season.
The Netflix series follows Daniel LaRusso (Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (Zabka) over 30 years after the events of 1984’s “The Karate Kid.” “Cobra Kai” began in 2018 and is currently airing its sixth and final season.
Macchio and Zabka were at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Las Colinas in Irving on Nov. 13 to give fans a glimpse at “Cobra Kai” Season 6 Part 2, which is available on Netflix this weekend.
“I’ve been to Texas a few times,” Macchio told the Star-Telegram.
In anticipation of Netflix’s Jake Paul-Mike Tyson fight in Arlington on Nov. 15, the streaming service hosted the “Cobra Kai” fan screening to complement its “fight week.”
This season of “Cobra Kai” is releasing in three parts. Five episodes were released on July 18, followed by five more on Nov. 15 and the final five arrive sometime in 2025.
Macchio said he’s looking forward to viewers checking out the “next-level” fighting in the second part, along with following the dark road his character takes as he works to understand unearthed truths from his old mentor, Mr. Miyagi.
“Just like any good story, you go off that axis, you gotta root for him to get back on,” Macchio said. “That’s part of what heads toward the finale next year.”
Zabka echoed the “incredible fighting” and “amazing choreography” in these five new “Cobra Kai” episodes.
The dojo is headed to Barcelona for a fighting tournament, which Zabka described as a little like the “Bad News Bears Go to Japan.” This part of the show is an uphill climb that will lead into an exciting finale.
“The show sticks the landing,” Zabka said. “At the very end of this, you’re gonna want to watch it all again, because you’re gonna go, ‘Oh, I get it’.”
