Two downtown Fort Worth streets that had been closed since the explosion at the Sandman Signature Hotel on Monday have reopened.
“W. 7th St. that travels one way Eastbound between Throckmorton & Houston Streets is now open for thru traffic,” Fort Worth police posted on X around 1:40 p.m. Thursday.
In an update about 6 p.m. Thursday, police said Houston Street is also now open for through traffic.
Police cordoned off more than a dozen blocks around the explosion site Monday night. By Tuesday morning street closures included two blocks each of Throckmorton and Houston, from West Seventh to West Ninth.
The cleanup efforts were expected to take several days, according to police.
Anything inside the affected area was considered a “hot zone” and potentially unsafe, police spokesperson Officer Jimmy Pollozani said in a Tuesday morning press conference.
