1 dead, 1 injured in early morning house fire, Fort Worth officials say
One person died and another was injured in an early morning fire at a northeast Fort Worth home on July 25, officials said.
Shortly before 4:15 a.m. someone called 911 to report their home was on fire, and they were trapped inside with another person. Crews responded to the 300 block of Wayne Street and found smoke and fire coming from the house, the fire department said.
Firefighters kicked in the back door, brought the two people outside and immediately started providing emergency medical care, officials said. A spokesperson for MedStar confirmed that one person was in critical condition and the other in serious condition when they were transported to a local hospital.
One of the residents later died, officials said. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified him as Robert Alan Thomas, 69.
Four pets were found in the home, and one of them also died, officials died. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
