Eleven adults and five children were displaced by a fire at a west Fort Worth apartment complex Friday night, officials said.

Crews responded to the 2800 block of Las Vegas Trail shortly after 8 p.m., Fort Worth Fire Department officials said on social media. Heavy fire was already coming from the second floor. It took about 15 minutes to get the fire under control, the post said.

Firefighters found a kitten while searching the apartments for anyone trapped inside. The kitten was unharmed, officials said, and they reunited the cat with its owner.

There were no injuries, and the American Red Cross provided assistance to the displaced residents. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, officials said.
