A chemical erupted in fire early Sunday at the front doors of a church in Plano, police said.

A person threw an accelerant in front of the church and lit it on fire, a Plano police spokesperson said.

No one was injured in the fire at Community Unitarian Universalist Church of Plano, the church said on Twitter. The front doors, material directly outside the doors and a foyer were damaged.

The church, in the 2800 block of East Parker Road, has been reviewing building security and working with Plano police since what the church said was a “hate group” was inside the church building during and after a worship service on June 25.

The fire erupted between midnight and 12:30 a.m., the church said.

Police did not announce an arrest. Arson investigators are reviewing evidence in the case.
