A 19-year-old man who died Monday following a single-car accident on Interstate 35W in Fort Worth has been identified.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the driver as Dan King Shaka.

Fort Worth police said Shaka’s Pontiac G6 was traveling northbound in the 3000 block of North Freeway shortly after 6 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle and left the freeway. The car hit several concrete pillars under the NE 28th Street bridge.

According to police, a witness said Shaka’s car was weaving in and out of traffic and traveling at a high rate of speed.

Officials said Shaka was treated at the scene and then taken to John Peter Smith Hospital, where he died Monday night.
