3-year-old girl dies after firefighters pulled her out of burning Fort Worth apartment
A 3-year-old girl who was pulled out of a burning Fort Worth apartment earlier this week died Wednesday at a local hospital, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website and authorities.
An investigation by Fort Worth fire officials continued on Thursday.
The girl was identified as Aaliyah Anderson, 3, of Fort Worth, according to the medical examiner’s website. An autopsy is pending.
The child died at 7:22 a.m. Wednesday at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth.
The one-alarm apartment fire occurred just before 2 p.m. Monday in the 9000 block of Brian Way Circle in west Fort Worth, according to the Fort Worth Fire Department call log.
While they were responding, firefighters received information there might be a child trapped inside an apartment, fire officials said.
When they arrived, firefighters saw heavy smoke and fire from a two-story apartment, fire officials said.
A search team found the child in a back room, brought her out and immediately began medical care.
Aaliyah lived in the complex and her family’s apartment was damaged in the blaze.
At least one apartment building had damage from the fire, according to a fire official.
Firefighters reported the fire was under control in less than an hour.
Fort Worth Fire Department spokesman Mike Drivdahl said Thursday an investigation continued into the cause of the blaze.
Fire officials also did not release any other details on the fire such as where the blaze started.
