18-year-old identified as victim in fatal traffic crash in far north Fort Worth

A teen who Fort Worth police say ran a red light was killed Tuesday night when her car collided with a semi-truck.

The victim has been identified as Princess Lasha Smith of Halset, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website on Thursday.

Smith died from blunt force injuries and her death was ruled an accident.

The accident occurred shortly after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at Alta Vista Road and Alliance Gateway Freeway in far north Fort Worth.

Fort Worth officers at the scene determined that the motorist ran a red light and hit the semi-truck. She was taken by helicopter ambulance to a local hospital, where she died.

No other injuries were reported.
