Two killed in fiery traffic accident on I-20 identified as Parker County residents
Two people killed in a fiery traffic accident on Interstate 20 near Weatherford over the weekend have been identified as Parker County residents, authorities said on Tuesday.
Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety have not determined what caused the wreck.
Killed in the crash were 21-year-old Rylan Cade Campbell of Aledo and 21-year-old Cassandra Nicole Grooms of Weatherford.
Campbell, the driver of a 2014 Mercedes Benz, died from burns and smoke inhalation in the traffic accident, according to officials with the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Grooms, a passenger in the car, died from blunt-force trauma, according to a ruling by the medical examiner’s office.
The fatal accident occurred just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 20 about 13 miles west of Weatherford.
The car was traveling east on the highway when it veered off the road, hit a tree and then caught fire, according to a DPS report.
The fatal crash is under investigation.
