One killed in fiery wreck after SUV crashes into concrete barrier on Bedford highway
One person was killed early Tuesday in a fiery crash on a Bedford highway, Bedford police said.
The victim was identified as David Hernton, 30, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website. A hometown was not listed for him.
The crash was reported just after 2 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Texas 183 near the Bedford Road exit.
A white sports utility vehicle was heading eastbound when it crossed several lanes of traffic, tried to exit and was hit by a tractor-trailer. On impact, the SUV was pushed into a concrete barrier, bursting into flames.
The SUV driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities closed down the eastbound lanes of Texas 183 for several hours as police investigated the fatal accident.
