One person was killed early Monday in a fiery traffic wreck in the westbound lanes of Interstate 20 in Arlington, according to Arlington police.

The name of the victim had not been released pending notification of relatives.

The fiery accident was in the westbound lanes of Interstate 20 just west of Matlock Road in Arlington.

Arlington police responded to the crash about 3:15 a.m. in the 1500 block of west Interstate 20.

Investigators believe the vehicle was traveling westbound when for an unknown reason it veered off the highway, struck the barrier and caught fire.

The vehicle traveled across all the lanes of traffic before it stopped on the shoulder of the highway, Arlington police said.

Arlington police continued on Monday to investigate a cause for the fatal crash.

Authorities closed the westbound lanes of the highway for several hours as police investigated the wreck.

Several people were taken to local hospitals after a vehicle crashed into a house in Hurst and caused it to burst into flames.
