Denton shooting leaves one man dead, another person wounded, police say
A Denton man who was one of two victims in a Tuesday afternoon shooting has died, authorities said late Tuesday.
Denton police have not released any details on a motive for the shooting.
The victim has been identified as Efren Alvaro Martinez, 27, of Denton, according to officials with the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. A ruling on his death is pending an autopsy.
Martinez died at 8:03 p.m. Tuesday at a Denton hospital.
Denton police responded to a shooting call shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of Mack Drive. Officers located one gunshot victim at the scene and they were told another one was at the hospital.
Martinez did not live at that location, according to the medical examiner’s website on Wednesday.
The condition of the other shooting victim was not available on Wednesday.
It was the third shooting in Denton in a week. The shootings are unrelated.
