20-year-old from Fort Worth one of two killed in car crash on US 281, authorities say
A 19-year-old and 20-year-old died in a car crash west of Fort Worth on Friday night, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.
DPS Troopers investigated the fatal crash, which happened at about 6:20 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 281 and Farm-to-Market Road 4, about 16 miles south of Mineral Wells.
Tyler Colvin, 19, from San Antonio, was driving east on FM 4 in a 2016 Toyota Corolla. DPS said he did not yield at a right-of-way as a 2016 GMC 3500 pickup truck was driving north on U.S. 281. The pickup hit the passenger side of the Toyota.
Colvin died at the scene. Rebekah Wendt, 20, from Fort Worth, was flown by air ambulance to a hospital in Fort Worth. Wendt died at the hospital.
