Authorities identify man found shot to death on east Fort Worth sidewalk

A 30-year-old man shot and left to die on an east Fort Worth sidewalk has been identified as Jimmie Lee Griffin III, according to authorities.

Griffin was pronounced dead at 11:13 p.m. Thursday, according to officials with the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office. He died from gunshot wounds to his chest, and his death was ruled a homicide.

Fort Worth police were dispatched to a shooting call shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday in the 5900 block of Oakland Hills Drive.

Griffin’s body was found on a sidewalk, police said.

Several shell casings were found near the body, according to police reports.

A suspect vehicle was described as a red Charger or Challenger, which left the scene after the shooting.

Police did not release any information on a suspect or a motive in the shooting.
