Tarrant County College extending spring break; status of future classes not announced

Tarrant County College is extending its spring break until March 23 due to concerns over the coronavirus, and the school is making a decision on how classes will continue, the college announced Friday.

Students should expect to receive an email next week from their instructors explaining the delivery method of classes for the rest of the semester. Several other local colleges — including TCU, UTA, UNT and Texas Wesleyan — have announced classes will resume after spring break online or in an alternative form.

TCC says it’s evaluating upcoming events and activities. Any updates will be communicated on a case-by-case basis, the college said.

Normal operations will begin for faculty and staff members on March 16 so they can prepare for their classes.

Though there have been no known cases of the coronavirus at TCC, the college said, administrators want to take proactive measures to prevent the spread of the virus. That includes having crews comprehensively disinfect classrooms, offices and public spaces over spring break.
