Man struck and killed overnight while trying to cross South Freeway in Fort Worth

A man died after he was hit by a vehicle while trying to cross the South Freeway at Rosedale Street early Monday morning.

The call came in to police dispatch about 12:30 a.m., and officers arrived shortly afterward.

Following a preliminary investigation, it was determined that the man had been struck by an oncoming white Jeep in the northbound lanes of the freeway, which is also known as Interstate 35W.

Emergency medical personnel declared the man dead after their arrival, police said. Police said investigators did not anticipate any criminal charges being filed.

The man’s identity has not yet been made public by officials with the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office, according to their website.

Traffic detectives with the Fort Worth Police Department are investigating.
