Fort Worth man wanted on 19 traffic warrants accused in hit-and-run injury accident
A Fort Worth man with 19 outstanding traffic warrants is accused of being a hit-and-run driver who walked away from an accident Thursday evening, police said.
A 33-year-old Irving man suffered minor injuries in the wreck.
Shortly after the accident, officers found Charles D. Rodgers, 32, of Fort Worth, about a half mile from the crash.
The accident was reported shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday at Meacham Boulevard and Blue Mound Road.
The Irving man, who was in a Lexus SUV, told police he was stopped at the traffic signal light at the intersection facing northbound. The light turned green and he proceeded to turn left onto Meacham Boulevard.
His SUV was hit by a Toyota, which ran a red light at the intersection. The Toyota was driven by a man later identified as Rodgers.
The SUV driver was taken to a local hospital with back injuries.
A witness told police that the motorist in the Toyota then left the scene without stopping to render aid.
Other witnesses provided police with a description of the driver in the Toyota. Officers later tracked him down a short distance from the accident scene.
Police later discovered that Rodgers had 16 traffic warrants out of Fort Worth and three traffic warrants from Roanoke.
He was arrested on those warrants and he’s being accused of failing to stop and render aid.
Rodgers was in the Tarrant County Jail on Friday.
