Search is on for hit-and-run vehicle involved in crash that killed woman in apartment
Police appealed for help Tuesday to find a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run that ended with a 64-year-old woman killed in an apartment.
Witnesses told police the vehicle — possibly a small sport utility vehicle — was traveling at a high rate of speed in an apartment complex parking lot Monday morning in east Fort Worth when it hit another SUV. On impact, the second SUV then went in reverse, popped over a curb and smashed through an apartment bedroom, killing the woman.
One witness described the hit-and-run vehicle as a dark gray or green “small type” SUV. Another witness told police the vehicle was a brown PT Cruiser or Chevrolet HHR with front-end damage.
The victim was Malinda Sue Goulett, who lived in the apartment where she was killed, according to officials with the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. A ruling on her death is pending an autopsy.
Goulett’s 8-year-old grandson also was in the apartment at the time of the crash, but he was not hurt.
“The grandson was not in the bedroom,” police spokesman Brad Perez said on Monday afternoon.
The driver of the SUV that was struck by the hit-and-run driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries. His name and age have not been released. No charges have been filed.
The crash was reported shortly about 10:15 a.m. Monday at the Reserve at Centreport apartments in the 3700 block of Post Oak Boulevard, in the Euless area.
Anyone with information should call police at 817-392-4888.
