Woman shot as fight breaks out at Fort Worth convenience store, police say

Several people were fighting outside of a Fort Worth convenience store Monday evening when someone began firing rounds, striking a woman in the torso, police said.

The woman suffered a serious injury but was in stable condition, according to Officer Buddy Calzada, a police spokesman.

Officers responded around 5:50 p.m. to a report of a shooting outside Mike’s Discount Foods in the 5000 block of East Berry Street, according to a police call log. Complainants said there was a large disturbance and someone apparently began firing rounds, police said.

A caller reported several people had been fighting outside of the store, according to the call log.

Officers arrived on the scene and were advised a suspect had shot a woman, whose injury was serious, police said.

The suspect fled the scene, police said.

It’s unclear at this time who the suspect is, police said, and if the person knows the woman who was shot.
