Derailed train car crashes into 18-wheeler near TCU in Fort Worth, police say

A train car that apparently became derailed Monday morning near the TCU campus in Fort Worth rolled through an intersection and crashed into an 18-wheeler car hauler, police said.

There were no reported injuries, only damage to vehicles, according to Officer Buddy Calzada, a police spokesman.

The crash, which occurred at the intersection of West Devitt Street and Cleburne Road, was reported at 10:30 a.m., according to a police call log. Police believe “there was a possible train derailment” and — as officials were separating cars to try to clear the scene — one of the train cars rolled through the intersection, Calzada said.

The car struck the 18-wheeler, he said.

The train car belongs to the BNSF Railway Company and the railroad crossing is owned by the Fort Worth and Western Railroad, he said.

BNSF didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment Monday.
