A privately-owned, early education school franchise may open a location in Willow Park, with construction estimated to be around $2.5 million.

An application was filed Thursday with the state to construct a Goddard School at 700 Willow Crossing East. If the project is approved, construction is projected to start June 29 and run for a year. The building would be a little over 11,500 square feet.

The Goddard School was founded in 1983 and brands itself as the “largest and most awarded franchisor of early childhood education,” according to its website.

The franchise today boasts more than 640 locations across 37 states. The closest schools to Willow Park are in Fort Worth, Keller and Dallas. The Goddard School did not respond to requests for comment by publish time.

A company guide to selecting an ideal franchise location recommends franchisees pick areas with “strong population density,” “middle to upper-income levels that can afford quality early childhood education” and “family sizes that indicate a need for preschool or child care services,” among other factors.
