Pedestrian killed after being hit by vehicle driven by off-duty Dallas police officer
A pedestrian was killed Sunday night on a Dallas highway service road after being struck by a vehicle driven by an off-duty Dallas police officer, authorities said Monday.
The name of the pedestrian had not been released pending notification of relatives.
The Dallas officer, who was on his way home, was not injured.
An investigation into the fatal accident continued on Monday.
The traffic accident was reported about 10 p.m. Sunday in the 8100 block of LBJ Freeway service road in Dallas.
The off-duty officer was driving westbound on the service road when the pedestrian stepped from the curb onto the street, Dallas police said.
The pedestrian was hit by the officer’s personal vehicle and died at the scene.
