An elderly man is dead after being struck in a hit-and-run crash near south Fort Worth

Investigators are continuing their search for the driver of a black four-door passenger car with dark tinted windows who is suspected of leaving a man for dead, according to the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Department.

Salvador Melendez Carcamo, 78, was hit about 10 p.m. on March 24 while walking in the 5600 block of Village Parkway and was in John Peter Smith Hospital when he died on April 3.

The driver is a suspect in a hit-and-run crash that left Carcamo critically injured in the city of Edgecliff Village, near south Fort Worth, according to a news release from the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Department.

Investigators are looking for any information regarding the identity of the suspect.

The crash occurred near the Hemphill Street and Interstate 20 area. The vehicle likely had front bumper, hood and windshield damage due to striking the victim and may have had repair work done or the windshield replaced in the past week.
