Hit-and-driver ran stop sign, then struck and killed Fort Worth motorcyclist, police say

A search continues for a hit-and-run driver accused of striking and killing a motorcyclist last week on a Fort Worth street.

The victim has been been identified as 33-year-old Jerry Emmanuel Penn of Fort Worth, according to officials with the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Penn died from blunt-force trauma to his chest and abdomen, according to a ruling by the medical examiner’s office.

Police responded to the wreck about 5:05 p.m. Tuesday at Altamesa Boulevard and Brookhaven Trail.

Penn was traveling east in the 2600 block of Altamesa Blvd. when a sport utility vehicle ran a stop sign and hit the motorcycle, Fort Worth police said on Thursday.

On impact, Penn lost control of his motorcycle, veered off the street and was thrown off, police said.

The driver of the other vehicle fled the scene.

Penn was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators believe the hit-and-run driver was traveling in a gray midsize SUV. The vehicle may have minor damage to the front-left portion.

Anyone with information should call Fort Worth police at 817-392-4884.
