9-year-old girl shot during road rage incident on Dallas highway; suspect fired 3 times
A 9-year-old was shot Sunday night during a road rage incident on a Dallas highway, authorities said Monday.
The girl was hit once as she sat in a backseat, Dallas police said. No other injuries were reported.
A search continued Monday for the gunman, who left the scene after the shooting.
Dallas police responded to the call shortly before 9:30 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 35E near the Manana exit.
A woman told Dallas police she was driving northbound on Interstate 35E when an unknown motorist in a white older sedan swerved in front of her.
The woman swerved to avoid hitting the car and blew her car horn as he passed her.
The suspect then pulled in front of her vehicle and slammed his brakes, but the woman managed to get around him.
At some point, the suspect drove along side of the woman’s vehicle and fired at least three shots into the driver’s side of her vehicle, Dallas police said.
The 9-year-old was hit once on her left side, Dallas police said.
Dallas police described the suspect as a white man, slightly balding with a salt and pepper goatee.
