Suspicious truck in downtown Dallas causes shutdown, but no devices found in vehicle
A suspicious truck parked just east of the federal building in downtown Dallas prompted authorities to shut down streets and evacuate buildings in the neighborhood for more than an hour Monday morning, Dallas police said.
Police issued an “all clear” just before 9 a.m. after a bomb squad did not find any suspicious devices.
Just days ago, a gunman opened fire at the federal building in downtown Dallas, but he was killed when federal officers returned fire. No citizens were injured in the shooting.
Just before 6:30 a.m. Monday, Dallas police received a 911 call about an abandoned truck in front of the Earle Cabell Federal Building.
Offers saw suspicious wiring inside the cab of the truck, prompting authorities to clear the area.
During the investigation, police found the owner of the truck, who reported that the driver had taken an extended break. The truck was towed.
Dallas police have not determined if the driver faces any charges.
The FBI identified the suspect in last week’s shooting as 22-year-old Brian Isaack Clyde. Neighbors said he lived at the Watermarke Apartments on Overton Ridge Boulevard in Fort Worth.
Federal officers killed Clyde, an Army veteran, after he approached an entrance of the building and began shooting.
