A person was killed and another was injured in a shooting early Sunday outside a Fort Worth nightclub, police said.

Officers responded to the shooting about 4:30 a.m. in the 2300 block of South Riverside Drive, police said in a news release.

Fort Worth firefighters and police officers arrived and provided medical aid to the victims, police said.

Investigators determined that an argument broke out in the parking lot of a nearby nightclub after it closed. During the confrontation, a person pulled out a gun and fired several shots, hitting two people, according to police.

One person died at the scene. Another person was taken by private vehicle to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police said the suspected shooter fled the scene before officers arrived. No arrests have been announced.

The homicide detectives are investigating the shooting, according to police.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the person who died after next of kin have been notified.
