A man was shot and critically injured Saturday morning during an apparent domestic violence situation in west Fort Worth, police said.

Officers responded to the 5500 block of Hidden Creek about 7 a.m. after a woman reported shooting someone, according to the 911 call sheet. Police said the caller’s ex-boyfriend entered her house without permission and began assaulting her.

The woman used pepper spray to defend herself and then shot her attacker, according to police. The man was struck three times and taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, police said.
