Pedestrian fatally struck by suspected drunk driver in east Fort Worth: police
A 50-year-old man was fatally struck by a suspected drunk driver while crossing an east Fort Worth street Thursday night, police said.
The crash occurred about 7 p.m. in the 4000 block of E. Rosedale Street. The pedestrian was trying to cross the road at the Chicago Avenue intersection when he was hit by a speeding car and landed on top of the vehicle, police said.
According to police, the vehicle continued down the street for a time before stopping in the parking lot of Fort Worth Seafood Fish Market and Restaurant at the corner of Rosedale and Miller Avenue.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead shortly after 7:30 p.m., police said. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner identified him as Jack Lawrance Vogt and ruled his death an accident.
The driver was evaluated at the scene by a DWI unit and arrested on an intoxication manslaughter charge, police said.
The suspect was booked into the Fort Worth City Jail. Police records identify him as 35-year-old Jory Durst.
