Pedestrian fatally struck by suspected drunk driver in east Fort Worth: police
A pedestrian was fatally struck by a suspected drunk driver while crossing an east Fort Worth street Thursday night, police said.
The crash occurred about 7 p.m. in the 4000 block of E. Rosedale Street. The pedestrian was trying to cross the road at the Chicago Avenue intersection when the victim was hit by a speeding car, police said. The pedestrian landed on top of the vehicle.
According to police, the vehicle continued down the street for a time before stopping in the parking lot of Fort Worth Seafood Fish Market and Restaurant at the corner of Rosedale and Miller Avenue.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead shortly after 7:30 p.m., police said. The driver was evaluated at the scene by a DWI unit and arrested on an intoxication manslaughter charge.
The suspect was booked into the Fort Worth City Jail. Police records identify him as 35-year-old Jory Durst. Authorities haven’t yet released the name of the person who died.
