A Fort Worth man was arrested April 27 after allegedly trying to enter the CIA headquarters in Fairfax County, Virginia, multiple times without authorization.

CIA police officers stopped Connor Lynn Mayo at the main entrance Monday morning after he failed to show “suitable identification,” according to the federal affidavit against the 28-year-old. Mayo accelerated and attempted to enter the compound anyway.

When questioned by officers, Mayo admitted he’d been on the premises before.

“He understood he was trespassing, but that he believed he was intended to be at CIA,” authorities said in the affidavit.

On April 24, Mayo was also stopped at the main gate and warned he would be charged with trespassing if he returned.

On April 26, the suspect followed an authorized vehicle onto the property, but was again halted by officers. He was given a citation for trespassing and told he’d be arrested if he came back. According to the affidavit, Mayo “expressed a desire to be arrested” and said he’d been at the Pentagon the previous day.

Mayo has since been released from jail, according to court documents.

It’s not clear why the man was trying to get into the CIA headquarters. Mayo’s appointed attorney, Nathaniel Wenstrup, was not immediately available for comment Friday.
